Corpus Artista
an autopsy of the artistic work

OSTsisters:

Wood work: Marco Weber

Vita Malahova has lived and worked in several European countries as a theater maker and nude model. In “Corpus Artista” she combines these two practices.
Together with the wooden sculptures of Latvian wood sculptor Miķelis Pankoks, who fled to Switzerland during the Second World War, as well as unprocessed wood, Vita poses questions about artistic work and its embodiment. The wood (a felled tree) and the body of a model - both are transformed in the artistic act: The dead is animated, the living is immobilized. What can these bodies tell us?
